We, Doug & Cathy Braley,  live in South Central Virginia in a little town called Sedalia which is part of Big Island, VA. It is west of Lynchburg, Va and north of Roanoke, VA., at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We have a 360 degree view of the mountains showing off each of the seasons.

We are original “damn Yankees” . We came here and saw the area and fell in love with its beauty and charm in 1992. We commuted weekends, holidays and vacations for the first 5 years. Then threw in the Northern towel and moved down in 1997. Our farm dates back to the early 1800’s, with the original house having quite a colorful history. The views are spectacular. In the stillness of the night when only the lowing of the surrounding cattle and country nite sounds can be heard, along will come the braying of donkeys and a horse nickering, communicating to one another in the dark.

We have a variety of animals. We have two Jack Russell dogs, Winnie and Tigger and a Shitzu, Smoky. They go everywhere with us. They watch out for charging donkeys, as donkeys naturally don’t have much affection for a dog.  We have raised miniature and standard donkeys for the past 12 years and sell them to loving homes.  Paso Fino horses came into our lives after Cathy had a medical problem.  She had always wanted a Paso and we purchased Delicia and her daughter.  We have been breeding, showing, and selling them over the past 6 years.  Other than a few transient barn cats that completes our animal family for now. 

 Visitors are always welcome here. We love to show off our animals. They love the added attention received from guests to the farm.
